Fun & Relaxation

The City of Rushville offers a wide variety of facilities and activities for your enjoyment. These facilities include community parks, 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts, walking trail, camping, fishing, ballfields, and a community building.
Scripps Park is the home of the Scripps family, who were the founders of the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA), Acme Newsphoto, United Features Syndicate, Science News Service, and the United Press (now UPI). The 2 cottages that are located adjacent to the community building were the old homesteads of the Scripps family. These cottages have been renovated by a group of volunteers and are rented out on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis.

Schuy-Rush Park is located two miles southeast of Rushville. The park is city-owned and non-tax supported with 120 acres of park grounds and a 225 acre lake. The camping facilities consist of 20-amp, 30-amp, 50-amp, tenting spaces, and 2 cabins. All spaces have water and there is a modern shower house.

Schuy-Rush offers a new boat dock with an ample parking lot. Fishing is done by pole and line and the lake has a large variety of fish.

Both parks offer shelter houses complete with water and electricity for whatever type of get together you wish to have. Scripps Park shelter houses are on a first come, first serve basis, and Schuy-Rush shelter houses are by reservation only by contacting the park office.
